Going Solar on the Great Loop

A 6,000NM adventure of a lifetime!

Sun Powered Yachts is very excited to be a new sponsor of the America's Great Loop Cruisers' Association (AGLCA) for 2019! This is the trip of a lifetime, and a huge adventure for many boat owners. Can you imagine cruising over 6,000 miles of waterways through the Eastern part of USA & Canada (some boats even duck over to the Bahamas for a while!)

We hope to inspire & inform those boat owners taking part in the Great Loop (known as Loopers!) about adding solar aboard. Whether power or sail you can start enjoying the many benefits of adding solar to your boat whilst on the Great Loop.

With SunPower you have a clean, renewable and silent source of power which gives you more freedom and energy independence. Disconnect from the dock and start enjoying those quiet anchorages.

An introduction to the Great Loop...

There's really no need to be listening to a noisy engine or generator any longer. Enjoy the silent sunsets knowing you are saving money on reduced fuel bills and oil changes. There's no better time as efficiency has gone up and prices have come down. Not to mention 2019 is the last year to take advantage of the full 30% Federal Tax Credit on your solar install aboard (your boat can be classed as your first or second home!) Check out our page on Solar Tax Credits

Become a Gold Looper

During the 6,000NM trip, which can take multiple years given the seasons (and the fact nobody is in a big rush!) Loopers will fly a blue burgee on their boat. Once they have 'crossed their wake' and completed their adventure they become Gold Loopers and can proudly fly their gold burgee aboard.

We look forward to a great year ahead with the AGLCA and helping their members go solar with SunPower. To find out more on the Great Loop check out their website and follow them on Twitter and Facebook
