So we're a month away from this year's Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show and we're excited to be exhibiting in the Spring as we have only been at the Fall show before. It's a great time for us to chat solar and sailing as you start to 'de-winterize' and prepare for the sailing season ahead. Why not add some clean & quiet solar panels and explore further. Many of our customers say how they're able to stay multiple nights on anchor without listening to a noisy engine/generator. As one of our customers said when we first started which still resonates with me, "You can't underestimate the importance of running a quiet boat."
For those who don't know, we first launched Sun Powered Yachts at the Annapolis Fall show back in 2018. It was only maybe 6 months earlier that we had chartered a sailboat in Tahiti and found ourselves in these beautiful, sunny anchorages having to run our noisy, dirty engine 4 hours a day to keep up with the fridge, lights and fans! OK so maybe the charter boat didn't have the best alternator aboard, and the battery bank was likely several years old, but we knew there had to be a better way and solar was key.

In our booth we're here to chat solar & sailing and answer any questions boat owners might have about going solar.
We can highlight the advantages of having solar aboard (quiet, clean, less noisy engine hours etc) but also demonstrate the SunPower/Maxeon advantage over the competition (high efficiency, smaller footprint, quality cells)
We will have SunPower flexible solar panels, 50W & 100W, and a Maxeon 415W-R fixed frame solar panel. It's good to get your hands on the panels and better understand the other system components required to get you up and running.
You can't underestimate the importance of running a quiet boat
We love #boothlife for the busy few days it is, plus it's Annapolis, what a great city. To be honest it reminds me the most of being back in England, with cute streets, very walkable and lots of pubs! We hope to meet lots of boaters, get to know our booth neighbors and also get a good feel for how solar sits in the marine market. Whilst we're focused on sailboats we're seeing more power boats add solar too which is great to see.

The 30% Federal Tax Credits were a huge advantage for many boat owners, but with the passing of the Big Beautiful Bill they sadly came to an end on December 31st, 2025 - 10 years early!! But don't worry maybe there are still some State Tax Credits you can take advantage of, be sure to check the DSIRE website for the latest updates. Don't forget it's on the total system cost and can include panels, wiring, controllers & labor.
There may be State Tax Credits to take advantage of, check the DSIRE website for latest updates
We look forward to taking part in many more boatshows in the coming years and continuing to inspire & inform boat owners on the benefits of going solar. Let us know any questions you might have, we're available by phone +1 808 825 2670 or email info@sunpoweredyachts.com
