You may have noticed recently that SunPower has their website back online www.sunpower.com and they're also listed back on the NASDAQ under the ticker SPWR. So you might think they have somehow bounced back from bankruptcy and are back in business, but it's a little more detailed/complicated/intricate/detailed!

Who is TJ Rodgers?

A key player in all this is TJ Rodgers who with his company Complete Solaria came in as a stalking horse buyer and was able purchase some of SunPower's assets for $46 million back in August 2024. After a few months and a court case later on April 22nd, 2025 Complete Solaria has officially rebranded themselves as SunPower.

Rodgers saves SunPower for a second time

Rodgers has come in to save SunPower for the second time. Back in 2001 Rodgers invested $750,000 of his own money while convincing his company at that time, Cypress Semiconductors, to get behind SunPower. In 2002 they finally did invest $9 million and in due course became majority shareholder. Rodgers served as Chairman of SunPower from 2002-2011 where his expertise in technology and manufacturing was crucial. During this time they also took SunPower public in 2005.

Rodgers is a great character to lead SunPower through this next phase, is clearly committed to renewable power and has a successful history of turning companies around. Previously he has swooped in and worked his magic for the original SunPower back in the early 2000's, aswell as Complete Solar, Enphase Energy and Enovix - all potential candidates for bankruptcy.

Other companies that Rodgers is part of the Leadership Team in the renewable/energy sector:

Enphase

micro-inverters

Enovix

silicon lithium-ion batteries

SunDensity

optical coating for solar
