It was really interesting to read the Cruising World Article about a marina expansion at Nanny Cay on Tortola in the BVI. For several years I worked for World Cruising Club as an Event Manager and would visit Nanny Cay each May to start the ARC Europe. This is a west-east trans-Atlantic sailing rally from Nanny Cay - Bermuda - Azores - Lagos for around 30-40 sailboats taking part, an exciting time to be visiting the BVI. I recall it was a big deal when they completed their first marina expansion going from 190 slips to 300 slips.
It's an exciting next step for Nanny Cay and the wider BVI marine industry. Cameron McColl, Chairman
This new development, estimated at over $30 million, would add a further 112 slips and aims to transform Nanny Cay into the Caribbean's premier resort marina. When first looking at the plans it took a little while to get my bearings, with this new marina extending south from Nanny Cay into the St. Francis Drake Channel. At the groundbreaking ceremony Cameron McColl, chairman of Nanny Cay, noted that "increased travel lift capacity and berthing will help serve the growing number of large catamarans and superyachts operating in the region."
New 112-Slip Marina – designed to accommodate the latest generation of catamarans and mega yachts
Enhanced Boatyard Facilities – new travel lifts capable of handling larger vessels
Visitor Amenities – A new beach, high-end restaurants with panoramic views, a luxury swimming pool, a beach bar and retail village
Community Engagement – New classroom facility for the Community College maritime training programs, numerous job opportunities for residents, improved dinghy program

Nanny Cay over time | 190 slips to 300 slips to a planned 412 slips!
